About our Newark Office

The tendering process for the 2017 Legal Aid criminal contracts permitted VHS Fletchers to open a new office in Newark town centre and we are now the only solicitors firm in the Newark area to provide legally-aided representation in criminal defence cases.

Newark Magistrates’ Court closed in 2011, and although the police station continues to be open to interview suspects not under arrest, if charged then defendants will be expected to travel to Nottingham Magistrates’ Court for their case to progress.

The partners at VHS Fletchers believe that local people will place a value on being able to see a local solicitor for specialist advice in relation to their cases. As a result, the office builds on what is already a significant history of representation of clients from the Newark area and further afield.

Our full range of criminal defence and regulatory services are available  from our Newark office. It is staffed by experienced Legal Executive Advocate Nikki Carlisle and Solicitor Laura Clarson who are familiar faces at the police station and courts.
