In Year Admissions

It may be that you are considering making an application to move your child to another school during an academic year. This might be because of problems at the current school. These could include:

  • an unresolved complaint
  • school non-attendance
  • issues relating to teaching standards
  • to avoid exclusion
  • issues relating to Special Educational Needs
  • bullying or friendship difficulties

Alternatively, it may be that you have moved house or are new to a particular area and have no alternative but to make an in year application.

You will need to identify where you need to apply to the local authority for a place at the desired school, or whether you must apply to the school directly.

If you are not offered a place at your preferred school then you will have a right to appeal that decision. The appeal will be in the same format as a usual school admissions appeal.  The same considerations about Infant Class Size will apply.
