Parenting contracts are available where children have failed to attend school regularly. These can be entered into by either the Local Authority or governing body with the parent or child.
The contract will contain an agreement by the parents to comply with the requirements of the contract for a specified period.
The Local Authority or governing body will agree to provide support to the parents during this period.
Any parenting contract must be voluntary and cannot be enforced. They are meant to be supportive measures rather than a punishment.
