Courtney Neale, trainee solicitor and accredited police station representative

Courtney graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2021 with BA Joint Hons in Criminology and Sociology. After focusing her dissertation on the effects of having a criminal record in the US, she continued her studies to complete a Master’s Degree in Law which comprised of the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Solicitors Qualifying Exame 1 Preparation Course. She will go on to complete SQE 1 and 2 examinations in 2025/2026.

Whilst completing her Master’s studies, Courtney worked at a local criminal defence firm providing advice to clients on a variety of matters. This cemented her passion for supporting people in gaining access to the criminal justice system.

Courtney started with VHS Fletchers as a Trainee Solicitor in February 2024.  Courtney has completed her police station accreditation and is able to advise clients at the police station over the full range of offences.  She takes an active role in the out of hours’ rota and during the day currently concentrates on providing advice and representation at the Nottingham Custody Suite.

Outside of work, Courtney is a keen reader of fictional crime novels, with Jane Casey and John Grisham being her favourite authors,  and welcomes recommendations.
