Louise has over 10 year’s experience as a qualified duty solicitor advising at the police station and representing clients in the Magistrates’ Court. Louise has both defended and prosecuted cases in the Magistrates’ Court and is highly respected in both fields. Louise has achieved excellent results for both private and legal aid clients through her determination and unwavering drive to ensure each of her cases is well prepared and well presented to the Court.
With the marked influx of more serious cases now remaining in the Magistrates Court for trial, Louise has had some excellent results recently having clients acquitted of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and dwelling burglary.
Louise has a passion for Road Traffic matters and has retained the driving licences of many individuals through successfully running legal arguments before the Court.
Earlier this year Louise successfully appealed the revocation of a client’s licence on medical grounds to the DVLA.
Louise has vast experience working with vulnerable adults and children at what is often a very frightening time in their lives. Louise’s calm and empathetic nature makes those she works with feel as though they are in safe hands.
Louise started off her career with VHS solicitors straight from University. Since then she has worked in Leicestershire and Derbyshire, as well as well as other firms within Nottingham, and so has excellent connections across the region.
The highlight of her career took her as far afield as China on an international kidnapping case which proved both professionally and personally an incredible experience.
Louise also takes instructions in relation to education law matters including assisting parents, carers pupils and university students with a range of issues. These include school admissions appeals, school exclusion appeals, university complaints and special educational needs.
Her most recent case involved a student at Nottingham University accused of plagiarism during an exam. The appeal was upheld when the panel were presented with expert evidence commissioned by Louise.
Louise also has experience in regulatory law defending businesses and people in business from regulatory investigations and prosecutions by organisations like the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Environment Agency, Local Authorities’ Trading Standards and Environmental Health departments.
Louise has dealt with cases such as HMO licence breaches, counterfeit cigarettes seizures and prosecutions under the consumer protection regulations.
